Reflections Beyond the Boardroom: Navigating the Startup Journey

Aside from our core team, RegioX has a wider clan of valuable players that offer consultation and ensure the longevity of our business. One of these key players is Erik Førde – the chairman of our board.

With over a decade of consulting experience in Norway`s largest industries like energy and salmon farming, we`ve challenged Erik to talk about what it`s like to chair a software startup in comparison.

Drawing from my extensive background in supply chain, strategic management and business development, my professional journey has taken me from advising established enterprises to chairing the board of the dynamic startup, RegioX. Here I have been asked to share some insights from this exhilarating adventure, exploring the challenges and our uniqueness.

In my tenure with RegioX, I’ve found parallels between guiding established organizations and steering the course of a startup. Taking the perspective of the board, the responsibilities are exactly the same for a startup and more established companies; providing leadership, guidance, and overseeing the company’s operations.

Both demand unwavering leadership and strategic vision, yet the context in which these responsibilities unfold is markedly different. While established companies navigate the currents of a mature business landscape, entrepreneurs brave the uncharted waters of innovation and disruption.

Entrepreneurs thrive on the pulse of innovation, constantly seeking to redefine industry norms and challenge the status quo. Their journey is characterized by agility, adaptability, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in the face of uncertainty.

Even in my experience with more established organizations, I’ve encountered instances of entrepreneurial flair and agility, though within the reassuring confines of security and certainty. A bit of the same, but again quite different.

Navigating the startup terrain requires resourcefulness and ingenuity, as teams strive to achieve ambitious goals with limited resources. As chairman, I’ve championed the importance of leveraging available resources and forging strategic partnerships to propel RegioX forward. We work with what we have, adding some passion and working hard!

Diversity is not just a buzzword but a cornerstone of our success at RegioX. Our team encompasses a rich tapestry of backgrounds, expertise, and perspectives, fuelling creativity, innovation, and robust decision-making. Currently we have our team working across multiple time zones, and see a growing interest in our products from customers all over the world. This part of the startup life is truly exiting, forging a product for the future!

As chairman, my mission is fostering a culture of collaboration and mentorship. By nurturing talent and promoting open dialogue, we cultivate a dynamic environment where every voice is heard, and every idea is valued. We are all vital parts of a larger machine, a machine we are building together; one line of code at the time. Onwards and upwards!
